All systems are made with an X-Link polyethylene material to avoid the air intake box from conducting heat as would metal, but to insulate the filter from pulling hot air from your engine. Some boxes also give the enthusiast an opportunity to add accessories to scoop cool air into the filter box giving them that extra edge.
